General Membership Meeting
USS Midway Reunion Group
Crowne Plaza Hotel Lahaina Room
San Diego, California
September 25, 2010

 I.  Call to Order
President Oscar Granger called the meeting to order at 10:00 am.

 II.  Introductions
Members were asked to introduce themselves, give rank/rating/department while on board the Midway and a brief summary of what they have done since leaving the Midway.

 III.  Articles of Confederation/Bylaws
Vice President, Bill Kruper, went over the new document, based on the Bylaws of the OI Division Reunion Group.  Copies were passed around and have been available in the hospitality room.  He highlighted the new sections:  name change, dues payment schedule, officers and their duties including the addition of Vice President-Reunions, liability disclaimer and requirements for membership.   A motion was made to accept the Bylaws as changed by Bob Butler and seconded by Jim Hayter.  Discussion followed.  Main discussion centered on expanding membership beyond Midway to Midway class ships’ sailors.  A decision was made to allow the officers to continue the discussion and present their decision at the 2012 reunion.  The motion to accept the new Bylaws was passed.

 IV.  Officer Election
Bill Kruper, Vice President–Administrative, said that he is willing to continue his duties for another term and asked for a vote of confidence from the membership.  Bill was re-elected by acclamation.
The President opened nominations for Vice-President–Reunions.  Jim Hayter was nominated.  There were no other nominations.  Nominations were closed.  Jim was elected by acclamation.

 V.  Location of the 2012 Reunion
Vice President–Reunions, Jim Hayter, took suggestions for the location of the 2012 Reunion from the membership.  The membership then voted on choice by a show of hands.  The site of the 2012 Reunion selected was the Washington, D.C., area with a backup site to be a cruise, location to be determined if necessary.

VI.  Other Business
Tim Miller and Robert McNulty will head up a group of southern California members to liaison with the Midway Museum to provide reunion group representation at Museum functions.
A suggestion was made to have an Archivist/Historian for the reunion group and volunteers were requested.
Newsletter editor Dave Payson asked for volunteers to help in areas such as gathering sea stories.

President Oscar Granger adjourned the meeting at 1:30 pm.

Respectfully submitted
Dave Payson, Secretary-Treasurer
